Training Behavior

  • All swimmers are expected at all times to follow the oral direction of any coach at any time. At no time will disrespectful attitudes be tolerated from any swimmer. It is important that the coaching staff has direct control of swimmers. When a coach is working with as many swimmers as they often do, it is important that they have the swimmers undivided attention. If a child fails to demonstrate this ability of self-control, that swimmer will be removed from the workout situation.
  • The use of profanity or verbal/physical abuse toward another swimmer or toward a member of the coaching staff or swim team director at a training session or any swimming event or party by a swimmer or swimmer’s parent/guardian will never be tolerated.
    • If a swimmer or parent/guardian uses profanity or verbal/physical abuse towards another swimmer, coaching staff or swim team director, the swimmer and/or guardian will be punished or sanctioned at the discretion of the swim team coach and swim team director. Sanctions could include, but not be limited to, suspension from the team, exclusion from a swim meet or team activities, or expulsion from the team for the swim season or indefinitely.

Meet Expectations

  • Swimmers are expected to arrive at the meet at least 10 minutes before the start of warm-ups. This is so that they can change into their meet suits, stretch and begin warm-ups on time.
  • Swimmers are required to wear their Hampton swim cap, a standard competition suit, and team spirit in order to represent the team and themselves best.
  • Swimmers should pay attention during a meet in order to know when they are swimming, also to watch and cheer-on their teammates when competing.
  • All swimmers are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner so that the spirit of competition can be preserved.
  • The use of profanity or verbal/physical abuse toward another swimmer or toward a member of the coaching staff or swim team director at a swim meet by a swimmer or swimmer’s parent/guardian will never be tolerated.
